The Seton Hall University Department of English offers an exciting option for
English majors and English/Education majors to complete a Master of Arts degree
in one year beyond their B.A. Students who qualify for admission into the
Dual-Degree Program will take 12 credits of graduate-level English courses
during their junior and senior years. These will apply toward the 45 credits
required for completion of the undergraduate major and toward the 30 credits
required for the Master of Arts degree in English. Students can then complete
the remaining 18 credits of graduate courses after earning their B.A.
Requirements for Admission
English majors who have completed at least 21 credits in the major with a
minimum GPA of 3.0 may apply at any time prior to their senior year. Applicants
are not required to take the Graduate Record Examination, but they must complete
the graduate application form, and their application must include a transcript,
a writing sample, and three letters of recommendation from their undergraduate
professors, two of whom must be full-time faculty in the English Department.
