Re: Grand Opening of Our Expanded Parking Garage
"If you build it, they will come." With apologies to Kevin Costner and
his Field of Dreams, I am delighted to be able to report that we have, in
fact, built it: The addition to our parking garage is complete, and I hope
you will come to help us celebrate.
On Thursday, 30 August 2001, we will mark the grand re-opening of our new
and improved parking garage. We will gather, of course, at the top of it
(where else?), with the event beginning at 4:00 p.m.
There are so many who must be thanked. I should begin by thanking all of
you, for your patience and cooperation during these summer months, when
cranes and trucks made life here at Seton Hall that little bit more
complicated. And I must extend a special word of thanks to Dennis Garbini
and Roger Demareski and their staff, for their leadership in bringing this
project to a successful conclusion, and with breathtaking speed and
efficiency. It isn’t often that construction work is finished on schedule:
Our on-time completion of the parking garage expansion is no small
achievement.
Maybe not in places like Montana and Saskatchewan, but on most college and
university campuses parking is always a challenge. It certainly has been
here at Seton Hall, as the report of our Bayley Project clearly noted. But
thanks to the hard work of many people, we have 525 new parking spaces.
While a formal dedication and blessing date will be announced in the
future, for now I hope you will be able to join us this Thursday
afternoon. Refreshments will be served and we will celebrate, rain or
shine.
Come and enjoy the view!
